A legacy of faith. A heart for people. A passion for the presence of God.
On September 11, 1993, Pastors Kelly and Esther Lohrke stepped out in faith and planted The Cure Church in Kansas City.
Leaving California with no guarantees and having never visited Kansas City, they carried one conviction: God had called them.
What began with just ten people has grown into a church-planting movement reaching communities far beyond Kansas City.
For more than three decades, their heart has remained the same: to build a church where the presence of God is the priority, the Word of God is the foundation, and lives are transformed through an encounter with Jesus Christ.
They believe the Church was never meant to be built around personalities, programs, or performances, but around the presence and power of the living God.
Their heart has always been simple:
“We want everyone.”
Every generation. Every background. Every story.
Because no one is too far gone for the grace of God, and no life is beyond the transforming power of His presence.
Today, that same hunger for God continues to shape everything we do at The Cure Church.
We don’t just want people to attend church. We want people to encounter God.
Jesus is still saving. Jesus is still healing. Jesus is still delivering.
