Modern Church in Kansas City || The Preacher, The Church & Jesus Pt 2

< Back to Blog

If you are looking for a Modern Church in Kansas City, look no further. That is us. We have the lights and sound, but more than that we have the presence of the Lord.

As a Modern Church in Kansas City its important not to get caught up with all the “modern things” that we forget our main purpose. We believe that more than lights and special effects, a church should cultivate an atmosphere where people can be touched and He can be lifted up! That is a church on fire.

Whether it be the Pastor or an enthusiastic member of the congregation there are people who are contending for an on fire church.  There are people who are passionate to see the church be all it was intended to be.

There is someone who is entirely necessary for a church on fire.  There is someone whose presence is so vital that with it the church has no hope of ever catching ablaze.

That someone is Jesus!.

When I turned to see who was speaking to me, I saw seven gold lampstands.  And standing in the middle of the lampstands was someone like the Son of Man.  He was wearing a long robe with a gold sash across his chest.  His head and his hair were white like wool, as white as snow. And his eyes were like flames of fire.  His feet were like polished bronze refined in a furnace, and his voice thundered like mighty ocean waves.  He held seven stars in his right hand, and a sharp two-edged sword came from his mouth. And his face was like the sun in all its brilliance.

When I saw him, I fell at his feet as if I were dead. But he laid his right hand on me and said, “Don’t be afraid! I am the First and the Last.  I am the living one. I died, but look—I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and the grave. Rev 10:12-18

We know that the stars are the pastors and the lampstands are the churches.  But who is it that holds the pastors in His hand?  Who is it that stands in the midst of the churches?

It’s Jesus!  With eyes of fire, a voice that thunders, and a face so bright John fell as if dead before him it is Jesus who will empower His church!

When you have the pastor and the church in unity with Jesus miracles happen.

Years ago I remember a service that began as usual.  I had my sermon ready and we were going to follow the same old order of service as we always had.  We sang our typical three songs (you know two fast and one slow song) and as I went to take the mike the power of God hit me and I went down.

When I hit the floor my face was to the wall and I could not get up.  After about thirty minutes I started to think about the order of service again.  I needed to take the offering and I could only imagine what the congregation was doing. But then God spoke,

“GIVE ME BACK MY CHURCH.”

I still could not move.  But  I was able to turn my head a bit and finally could see what was going on at the altar.  people were everywhere.  Some praying, some weeping, some still in their seats, but all in the presence of God.   Everyone was being touched by God.

I said this to Jesus,

“I don’t want anything but you God.  Have your way.”

After that night that we saw a 6 week revival.  We saw demons come out of people, people got saved and married, and songs were written that our church still sings today.  When Jesus is in the midst of a church anything can happen..

Do you want to see signs, wonders, and miracles?  It can happen.  Obey God, preach the Gospel, and cry out for Him to have His way!

Pray this with me,

Lord Jesus without You church is lifeless, meaningless, and dull.  We need you Jesus.  We need the fire of your Spirit our church. May we be hungry and desperate for you.  May we be unsatisfied with business as usual.  May we be grieved with dry, flavorless religion.  May we, without ceasing, cry out and give you no rest until you make us a church on fire for YOU!
