Spirit Filled Church in Wyandotte County | Are You Full of It?

< Back to Blog

As a Spirit Filled Church in Wyandotte County, we fully believe in the operation of the Holy Spirit and encourage you to be continually filled with the Spirit of God. Are you full of it?

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Acts 1:8 NLT

The book of Acts summarizes how the people moved in the Holy Spirit.    After Jesus said these words Jesus ascended and 120 people gathered in the upper room.  Jesus had instructed them to do nothing until they were filled with power.

When we get saved we cannot be regenerated apart from the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Jesus and the apostles aggressively pursued the need for people to be filled with the Spirit.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.

The word power in the Greek is dunamis which is where we get the English word dynamite.  This is a very strong word. When the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you are the bomb. You are explosive.

There are people who base their walk on knowledge but knowledge without the Holy Spirit is just pride.

The power of the Holy Spirit was not just for miracles, but to press through persecution.  The power was not just needed to kick off the church but to maintain it when he comes.

Usually the last words of a person are the most important.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

The Holy Spirit empowers us to be a witness.  If Christianity was illegal would there be enough evidence to convict you of being a believer?  The Holy Spirit sets us apart and makes us different from the world. You need Him to be a good husband or a good wife. At the end of the day, this is why we all received God.  We can’t do life on our own.

When we receive the Holy Ghost our lives drastically change.

And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had.  They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need.  They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved. Acts 4:44-47

Mind you a lot of people followed Jesus.  They witnessed miracles and did ministry. But when the Holy Spirit came they had supernatural unity and an overwhelming desire to give.  How do you think they financed the churches? People were passionate to see the work of Christ fulfilled.

In the old testament, we hear of the Spirit coming upon certain people.  But look what Joel says.

Then, after doing all those things,   I will pour out my Spirit upon all people.  Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams, and your young men will see visions. Joel 2:28

If you fail to be filled you rob yourself and the world of what God wants to do through you.  Baptism is received by faith and will help you overcome peer pressure. He is a fire that can’t be quenched.  The people broke through the darkness by the Holy Spirit. The wheels were set in motion. The Gospel has been spreading throughout the world for 2000 years.

I want to end with one more thought about being filled.

Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit Eph 5: 18 NLT

Don’t be drunk with wine, tequila, whiskey, beer, or whatever your flavor is.  Stop looking to see how much sin you can get away with and be filled with the Holy Spirit.

Being filled is continual.  It’s not just one experience.  Most people don’t get drunk on one drink.  Being filled is not a single experience.

People who drink experience side effects.  There are effects of being filled.

People who are filled love to sing.
singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. Eph 5:19

2) People who are filled are thankful.

And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Eph 5:20

3)  People who are filled are submissive to one another.

And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Eph 5:21

Be filled!

Pray This.

Father fill me with the Holy Spirit.  Give me a deep hunger for His presence. Let His presence in me be so evident that everyone I meet feels the effect of the Holy Spirit.  But I don’t want to just feel Him. Use my life in any way you wish. In Jesus name. Amen!

Meditate On This

Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires, but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.  The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. Romans 8:5-6
